Monash’s Cheer Team Faces Uphill Challenge at the FISU World Uni Cheer Champs

Monash’s emerging cheer squad, Atlas, will compete in the FISU World University Cheerleading Championships in Croatia during August. Despite most of its cheer squad never performing at the elite level, Atlas is relishing in the challenge to reach the top tier of cheerleading, known as level 5/6.

The Heroes behind Monash Cheer and Dance Teams on the World Stage

Monash University has three dance teams and one cheer team representing Australia in the FISU University World Championships in Croatia in August. Behind these elite athletes is a team of students making it happen. The Monash Cheer and Dance (MONCAD) committee is made up of nine Monash University students who organise overseas and interstate competition trips as well as managing the year-long Cheer and Dance program.

Monash Blues celebrate Monash Pride Week with Pride Round Match Day

Last Saturday, on the 18th of May, the Monash Blues Football Club celebrated Monash Pride Week and IDAHOBIT Day with their Pride Round. Held at Frearson Oval at Monash University, there were rainbows to be seen across the grounds, with flags in the change rooms, rainbow 50m markings and a rainbow bake sale.

Monash Triumph at UniSport Nationals Athletics

On April 24-26, 17 of our student athletes represented Monash University at UniSport Australia’s Athletics Nationals, which took place on the Gold Coast. Overall, Monash placed 8th and 9th respectively in the men’s and women’s, out of 33 different universities.

Celebrating our Student athletes at the 61st Blues Awards

Last Friday, the 61st Annual Blues Awards was held at Monash University. Over 100 people attended to celebrate the awarding, which went to 82 athletes across 14 different sports.  The Blues Awards have been running since 1963, and are awarded to athletes in recognition of their exceptional achievements while representing Monash University. Many of our past recipients have competed in the Olympics, World Cups or have set new records.

The atmosphere was electric as free food, an abundance of sports, and the beloved Team Monash mascot 'Dash' added a delightful touch to the festivities, spreading joy among both first-year students and those who joined in the 4 day event.
